I just happened to listen to the 03-25-72 concert where they backed Bo Diddley. Un-fucking-real - the sound was a revelation to me, or maybe just a reawakened memory. They were a boogie band and a rhythm machine then and backed him up great. And he was the godfather of rocknroll. I made myself listen to all of it, even the boring parts, and I could hear so many upbeat riffs that ended up in space jams in later years. I guess Bobby was listening real good. I sorta wished they'd kept this part of them after 76. It's on a DP. Or, listen to a few songs on an mp3 from somewhere.

Etta James, Tower of Power, Ornette Coleman and those folks clapping along with Ollin Arageed on Egypt '78. Huey Lewis, Hamza al Din and Gary Duncan. Ken Kesey. Most of these were good.

Joan Baez was bad.
